For as long as I can remember my passion
in life has been to be a craftsman. I began my journey at the age of
18 when I built two end tables as a wedding present for my brother.
What most don't know is, I did the whole project from start to finish
using the top of our family's washer and dryer as my work bench. That
was a sign not to be acknowledged until years later.
I went on to receive
my degree in Management and was gainfully employed in the corporate
world for 12 years. It was at that time, along with a combination
of events, that I came to the realization I was not cut out for
cubicle life. Working with wood was
 |
a choice I immediately gravitated
to and it was at that time I started my own hardwood flooring
company, Timberline Floors, Inc. Happy to be working with wood
once again I decided to explore the possibility of offering custom
wood inlays for my flooring customers. Soon after, I learned
about Marquetry which is the art of using multiple species of
veneers to create intricate designs and patterns with wood. That
seemed to be the ultimate woodworking which became a hobby.
After spending 13 years in the wood flooring business I decided
to explore new mediums and came across an etching technique that
was clearly different than anything I had ever seen. The process
of etching glass and stone through controlled sandblasting. I was
intrigued and excited at the possibilities of
designs and what could
be made with it. From there I proceeded to learn this new art form
and technique as I had done many times before. This technique is
what has been used to create all of the pieces you will see on my
site as well as those I display in my booth at the various trade
shows I do annually.
I hope
you enjoy the various pieces as much as I enjoyed creating them and
look forward to the opportunity of creating a custom piece
for your home or office.
